Reha Nunna
Major: Biology w/ Chemistry and Child Advocacy Studies minors
Why I joined JCO: I want to spread quality healthcare in areas that lack necessary tools and/or healthcare workers. I am an incoming junior who is excited to pursure more volunteer work that is fulfilling to the future I imagine as a doctor! This type of volunteer work is specific not just to medicine and hospitals, but to a certain demographic of returning patients. I believe that it's important to learn to maintain a relationship with these returning patients outside of just their medical information and get to know them! This will help volunteers form long-term relationships with patients unrelated to their conditions, forming better healthcare workers and an improved mental state/trust in patients. The Outreach branch of this organization will deal with maintaining relationships not only with patients, but with staff and hospitals. This is also an important aspect of being a physician as you will need to have the trust of all types of healthcare workers to fully do your job.
